“Sweeping choruses and riffs that pack plenty of punch” Album Review: Fighting With Wire - Man Vs Monster

From The Sun - Something For The Weekend, by SJB on 16 May 2008

The brainchild of Jetplane Landing's Cahir O'Doherty and Clearshot drummer Craig McKean, Fighting With Wire was, until now, a side-project. Now, after a few EPs and DIY single releases, the full album has arrived and it's nice to see it's ticked a lot of the right boxes.

The tug-of-war between pleasing melody and punk ferocity is superbly balanced. There's plenty of Foo Fighters moments, sweeping choruses and riffs that pack plenty of punch as on Everyone Needs A Nemesis. With a little bit of work from the listener needed to unlock each layer it's a positive and rewarding album.
