“Hooks big enough to land a sperm whale” Feature: Fighting With Wire - Man Vs Monster

From Rock Sound, by Chris Shipman on 1 March 2008

From the country that gave us George Best, Ash and er, Eamonn Holmes come Northern Irish trio Fighting With Wire. Perhaps best known for being the other (and now more active) band of Jetplane Landing guitarist Cahir O'Doherty, FWW are reminiscent of early Foo Fighters with added attitude and boast hooks big enough to land a spem whale, along with neck-snapping riffs combined with shouty bits so urgent you'd think Cahir's mop of hair had been doused with petrol and set alight. The power-pop gems that abound on thier long-awaited debut full-length 'Man Vs Monster' - out via Smalltown America on Marh 10 - are well worth checking out; ditto thier May UK tour.
