“An incredibly catchy and sugary melody that will remain in your head long after it's turned off” Single Review: Oppenheimer - Breakfast In NYC/Truth Or Dare

From Designer Punk, by Tom Barnes on 18 May 2006

'Breakfast in NYC' is an instantly likeable pop single, loaded with rather pleasant nostalgic undertones that leave an agreeable taste in the mouth. It also has an incredibly catchy and sugary melody that will remain in your head long after it's turned off: Lovely at first, but kind of sickly after a while.

Glokenspiels and sweet vocals contrast with a dirty electronic base hum making it sound somewhat overtly like a Postal Service track. It's a blissful piece of pop that will probably be placed on repeat for a few days before being placed firmly at the back of your collection.

Other A-side 'Truth Or Dare' continues in a similar vein though slightly rockier and slightly less immediately smacking of pleasantries. After a few listens though, while the title track starts to exasperate, this song starts to cultivate and leaves you wanting a little bit more of this Irish duo's harmonious pop.
