“A sumptuous synth-pop experience” : Oppenheimer - Breakfast In NYC/Truth Or Dare

From Rock Sound, by Tim Newbound on 10 April 2006

"Sometimes I think we are the luckiest band in the world," enthuses Oppenheimer multi-instrumentalist Rocky O'Reilly. "I haven't been able to sit still for months, this is all like a dream." Formed in October 04, the Belfast duo met through going to the smae gigs in Northern Ireland and haven't looked back since, their most recent achievement being their involvement in the South By Southwest Festival in Texas.

A sumptuous synth-pop experience, Oppenheimer's heroes include My Bloody Valentine, although musically they're an altogether more jaunty prospect than Kevin Shields' shoegazing legends, mixing in a shedload of styles that make their songs incredibly varied. Oppenheimer's self-titled debut album is set to drop in June, and limited edition 7-inch 'Breakfast in NYC' / 'Truth Or Dare' is out on April 17 via Smalltown America. And if you want to fill-out their line-up, you're out of luck: "We are forever getting people offering to play bass for us. the answer is always 'Sure, you can play bass, when we write a song that has bass guitar on it'," laughs Rocky. catch the two-man indie-pop attack on tour in April and May.
