“KKKK: Scots quartet Fickle Public come on like early Idlewild mixed with prime Fugazi” Album Review: Fickle Public - Bucko

From Kerrang!, by Stevie Chick on 8 March 2006

With a gift for sweetly off-kilter tuneage and chaotic and exhilarating explosions of noise, Scots quartet Fickle Public come on like early Idlewild mixed with prime Fugazi, a rockin' melange of angular riffage and rage that's tempered by nagging, eccentric hooks.  Their songs are as restless and writhing as frontman Alan Ferguson's strangled screech vocals, skipping from idea to idea, never standing still for too long.  Debut single 'Just Like I Got Used To Saying Courteney Cox Arquette' catches their caustic popcore at its apex, but the likes of 'Jee' - a momentary respite from the 'GRRR!' - shows the Fickle Public have hidden depths.
