“It's a fantastic public service.” Album Review - Public Service Broadcast #4

From Planet Sound, by John Earls on 20 July 2004

In less than a year, the (British) label Smalltown America has begun to rival Fierce Panda for showing off new talent. It surely can't be long before one of their acts takes off. For an album with 23 artists on, the success rate is remarkably high. No one could like everything here, but if you can't find one new discovery to cherish you probably don't like music much. Hyper Kinako's frantic pop, Penniless' bouncy punk, Mono Effect's Ride swirl - it's a fantastic public service.

8/10
