About PSB
The idea behind Public Service Broadcasting is very simple. We squeeze as much good music as we can onto a CD, press it as cheaply as we can, sell it for £5 at shows all round the UK and Ireland (as well as online) and re-invest all the profit into the next compilation.
PSB#1 came out Autumn 2003, completely sold out in 6 weeks and we made £322.50 – with that money we pressed 150 copies each of PSB#2 and PSB#3 which went on sale in April 2004. From those profts we financed PSB#4 etc.
We try to release a new PSB every 4-6 months. Don't be shy, our doors are always open to new artists so jiffy up, and send your CD in.
By donating your track to a PSB compilation you are helping another set of artists gain some exposure. It’s furtherance of your own community and we're confident (based on past experience) that it helps open a few doors and raise awareness of your music.
Some previous contributors have recieved gig-bookings, interest from larger labels or regional radio plays as a result of appearing on our compilations.
We don't make anything from this at all and, we do not ask artists to donate money towards manufacturing the compilation. Everything is registered with the appropriate regulatory bodies (for example you'll recieve your full MCPS entitlement) and all our profits/losses are published in the accounts section.
There isn’t a catch, if you hear from us it means we love your music and want to expose other people to it.
if you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us.
