Mnemotechnic are a distorted, electric-tornado of a band. Based in Brest, France the four-piece articulate expertly the mathier elements of the dance-rock genre. Recalling At The Drive-In, Refused and Sonic Youth their sound distills The Rapture’s most intense moments and Nirvana’s grooviest. Piercing, high vocals punctuate visceral, off-beat drumming, which Les Inrockuptibles describe as “Shrill and convulsive rock that makes you dance like you have a gun to your head”.

Chris McConaghy aka Our Krypton Son hails from Derry, Northern Ireland where he first cut his first musical teeth with psychobilly art-rockers Red Organ Serpent Sound. Having graduated unscathed from those rambunctious ranks, Chris established his songwriting credentials as an acoustic solo act sharing stages with David Kitt, Gemma Hayes, Jape and Cashier No. 9 around the Irish club circuit. Gathering plaudits as a writer of note, Chris gathered close musician friends together in early 2010 to create Our Krypton son and record a debut album of the same name, from which this lead single is taken.

Black Thigh (Soccer 96 Remix)
Psych-rock trio Negative Pegasus present their new single - 'Unimmortal' - out on Monday 10th December. Recorded during the daylight hours in a concrete hole in sunny Brighton during the worst rain storm of 2012, 'Unimmortal' is the first to be recorded since the sessions for their debut LP 'Looming' (released in September). Neg Peg describe the new song as "a taught, slowly unfolding, paranoid whirlwind of subtly intertwined riffs and a motorcade of cascading drums". This is the next level of hard psych from the band behind 'Psychic Energy' and 'Floating Omen'.
'Unimmortal' is accompanied by the same song unnaturally reversed and demonically stretched to become 'Uunniimmmmoorrttaall' plus a remix of 'Looming' album favourite 'Black Thigh' by Brighton's analogue synth vs live drum warriors Soccer96.
Positively fizzing with off-kilter studio wizardry reminiscent of Can and Dungen...brimming with space-echo vocals and lashings of killer riffs
Unique barrage of rhythm and fuzz, with the same stab of power chord looped until it hurts
Rock A Rolla
Negative Pegasus' debut will have you listening again and again. Maybe it's because you'll feel intimidated and forced into submission by their trance inducing fuzz. Maybe it's simply because they're good.
With looping drum arrangements, distorted, echoing vocals and swirling guitar feedback, the band creates unexpected beauty from the dark and murky world of noise
This Is Fake DIY
And like the Frankensteinian monster it is, debut album ‘Looming’ wanders around, clumsy and aimless, smashing the shit out of anything in its path; mostly, your ears
Negative Pegasus will melt down all your shit records with lethal vibrations

'Definite nods to bands like Pontiak and Wooden Shjips (minus the psych). Essentially they sound like an intense Californian band. Amazing.'

How It Happens
A Single Fuck
The Black Thigh
Born from a mutual love of the NYC-rock of Oneida, the free-time whirl of Sightings and the joint-snapping mathematics of KILLL and Zu, Neg Peg’s repetitive rhythms are overlaid with ghostly vocals, primal, pounding drums and a thick, choking haze of reverberant effects.
The tracks on debut album LOOMING weave between primordial bone-shakers, stretched-out growls and ethereal retro-pop nuggets. Recorded over a period of 17 hours in an empty warehouse space in Sussex with producer Steffan Eliades, the end-result is equally joyous and disturbing.
The Neg Peg live experience is an apocalyptic blend of Daft Punk rhythms, shamanistic stomps and swamp-rock Creedence licks? “I fucking love Creedence”, says Todd, “We share the same basic concept, it’s all about riffs and echo. Remove the country bits from Creedence and Neg Peg isn't so different, really. Less 'kerchiefs though.”
When you buy your copy of 'Looming' you will receive by e-mail a digital download link of all tracks to enjoy on any digital device.
"High octane riffage from Negative Pegasus who occupy a sparsely populated musical peninsula somewhere between Oneida and Black Sabbath."
"[Negative Pegasus] remind me of Wire, when they're at their most mental or Copenhagan newcomers Iceage... or maybe it's just psych trying to be pushed to the limit."
"Interestingly groovy and shamanistic Brighton trio"
“You get the feeling these guys are on the right side of maniacal, holding onto feedback and the treble button with equal force whilst ramming a sick covered tongue in your ear.”

Floating Omen (Single)
An aural-assault comprised of dualling guitars used more as conduits for feedback than as "musical" instruments, contrasting against echo-drenched drums, prehistoricly pounded out like a mammoth bone on a cave floor, Negative Pegasus make music loud enough to feel with your entire body, resonating in your inner ear.
Yeah, it's drenched in feedback, pissed off and fully aiming to deafen... but elements of it also kinda remind me of Wire, when they're at their most mental or Copenhagan newcomers Iceage. - NME

'Plutonium' is a deftly crafted tale which showcases the vocal talent of Chris McConaghy in breathtaking fashion. Broken, vamped chords tumble over an aching lyric which describe perfectly the joy of falling in love (...again?). Images of boyhood flutter into view throughout the track and our singer's 'dreams of plutonium' are perhaps a metaphor for the elemental search for a soulmate.
