Smalltown America Documentary To Be Screened At Culture Tech Festival

'There Is No Real Courage Unless There Is Real Danger' will be premiered at this year's Culture Tech Festival In Derry

Charting a turbulent period in the label’s history between 2007-2009, 'There Is No Real Courage Unless There Is Real Danger' is a documentary by Derry Filmmaker Aaron Connolly which examines the essence of the DIY spirit, the nature of independent artistry and the challenges musicians and record labels share in a digital age.

Jubilant, depressing, bewildering and at times mesmerising: this is a film about music and the people that bring it to life both onstage and behind the scenes.

Upon watching the film, label boss Andrew Ferris said: "fair play to Aaron for making this doc, he has poured over 100s of hours of footage and he's coming from a place of real love for our bands and their music. Apart from the bits with me in it, this is a really good watch. I'm certain this will be of interest to others in the label game to see what we've struggled with and overcome and any young bands keen to DIY it."

Includes interviews and previously unreleased live footage by And So I Watch You From Afar, Calories, Fighting With Wire, Alan MX, LaFaro, 4 Or 5 Magicians, Let Our Enemies Beware, We Versus The Shark, The Young Playthings and The Moi Non Plus
