Nawakposse Review Mnemotechnic 'Awards'

"Devilishly engaging, and has a real sense of energy. You can pick out influences like Sonic Youth, Rapture or At The Drive In..."

So for once I'm not going to talk to you about heavy, raw guitars, slashing riffs, oppressive atmospheres or screaming voices. This isn't about fast, furious music for those who like to blast their eardrums with maximum decibels.
No, "Awards", the first album from Mnemotechnic (the name does make you think of a metal band) is nothing like that. The group from Brest have delivered 12 quality tracks of energetic rock, with touches of pop, noise and even a little punk in the mix, which are coordinated and accomplished

Even if it's not necessarily my thing, I have to admit the music from this Breston combo is devilishly engaging, and has a real sense of energy. You can pick out influences like Sonic Youth, Rapture or At The Drive In; slices of Manchester and Liverpool; but always with a little personal something which adds real feeling to the whole thing. They sound like a lot of other groups but you don't care.

The CD is coherent and complete, with well put together, very danceable songs, and to top it all, top notch production. A really good record which fans of loud pop/rock will appreciate for sure.
