Derry Journal Feature Local Band Jetplane Landing's New Album

"Andrew [Ferris] reveals... “It’s actually the longest period of recording we’d ever gone through. Hopefully that’s reflected in the album.” Judging by the fact that Kerrang Magazine gave ‘Don’t Try’ a blistering 5/5 album review last week, that’s certainly the case!"

Celebrating the launch of their fourth studio album, Derry’s Jetplane Landing will turn Ebrington’s old military stables into a punk-rock venue this Friday.

With the album ‘Don’t Try’ winning new fans, and its first single ‘My Radio Heart’ all over the airwaves of BBC Radio 1 , vocalist Andrew Ferris is delighted.

“Already this single had the most radio airplay of all of our songs, so we’re thrilled to have a song on the record that’s already catching a fire,” says Andrew, who is also the creative spark behnd local label Smalltown America.

Together 15 years, Andrew, Jamie Burchell and Fighting With Wire’s Cahir O’Doherty are now joined by FWW drummer Craig McKean.

“This is the first time we’ve ever worked on an album at home,” Andrew reveals. “Cahir and I really wanted to record it in the Smalltown studios. It’s actually the longest period of recording we’d ever gone through. Hopefully that’s reflected in the album.”

The album cover is sure to appeal, too, as it’s an old Jim Cunningham photograph capturing a scuffle in the Union Hall in 1989! Their new video was also shot locally and features Derry bikers, mods, amateur boxers and the like, all loving the music.

‘Don’t Try’ is available in Cools Discs and STA’s record shop at : www.independentmusic.com.
