Rock Sound Review 'Backlash Cop'

By far Jetplane's most consistent work to date

'Backlash Cop' is quite a departure for Jetplane Landing. Sure, Andrew Ferris' comative lyrics and Cahir O'Doherty's combustible riffs are definitely still present, but there is also an acutely funky new edge to the make-up of the music.

Thankfully, the blend works well, adding tremendous variety to the overall sound of this record, making it by far Jetplane's most consistent work to date. Previous effort 'Once Like A Spark' was mostly great - chock full of riffs and structural invention - but it did, at times, suffer from filler syndrome. 'Backlash Cop' has no such problem. From the near-rap of the opening title track to the Santana-esque closing solo of "Song For Sonia Sanchez", this is the sound of a band in peak form.
