10/13 for Neg Peg's 'Floating Omen' From Room Thirteen
It's hard sometimes when you review so much to stay excited when you see a handful of genres and other band names on a press release, you become jaded pretty fast; thankfully Brighton trio Negative Pegasus cut through any and all crap with this fantastic single release of ballsy psych. It really gets you pumped up and moving. Slightly hypnotic, droning backing, looping riffs and danceable beats support harsh guitar sounds with vocal shouts and harmonies filtering through from behind it all. 'Floating Omen' is music to lose yourself in, not in a dreamy way (surprisingly, given the psych reference point) but through intense, uplifting washes of noise and static, feeling grounded and solid and connecting you in a very direct way, creating a visceral response that's easy to put a finger on. More please.
